How To Style Your Kitchen Like a Pro!
We all love those perfectly styled kitchen shots on the cover of House Beautiful and Traditional Home! But let's be real... a perfectly styled magazine-worthy kitchen just isn't functional or achievable for most of us. Especially those of us with families and those of us who love to cook! So today I'm sharing how to style your kitchen for a perfectly-imperfect livable feel!
Let's get started with a beautiful blank slate! This was a recent Lola Interiors project that we're all swooning over! The dark wood island, classic backsplash and elevated ceilings make this kitchen feel both grand and cozy! Well done, ladies!
OPT FOR LOVELY HAND TOWELS
This home-owner requested easy access to the essentials (ah-hem, coffee mugs!) so the Lola ladies carved out the perfect space to display those. To fluff the coffee bar up a bit I added a Cape House favorite, this blue and white striped hand-towel! It's amazing what a statement a pretty hand towel can make. And of course they're functional too! Pro tip: When you find a hand-towel you love, stock up! Always keep a few clean towels tucked away in a drawer.
DISPLAY YOUR BAKED GOODS
Have you ever noticed in the magazines that stylists *always* feature fresh bread or baked goods?! Find a pretty cake stand or serving piece that you love and use it to display fresh baked goods (...or your favorite store-bought goodies!) and special treats! If you're not a baker, use the piece for fresh fruit. Styling with food will give your family something fun to look forward to while bringing your kitchen to life!
GO GREEN!
If you're lucky enough to have a window in your kitchen, grace the sill with a plant or two! A little greenery is always a good idea. Here's a list of eight house plants that are helpful to have in the kitchen!
DON'T HIDE YOUR COOKBOOKS!
You don't need a pretty glass shelf or storage piece to display your favorite cookbooks! Choose 3-5 of your favorites to show off on your countertop. Pro tip: Mix the old with the new! Display your grandmother's cookbooks or vintage finds alongside your current go-to's for a collected look.
PILE UP THE WOOD BOARDS
Wood boards are a must for entertaining and everyday cooking, and they make a beautiful display as well! Stagger a few woods boards in varied colors, shapes and sizes behind your range or cooktop for added warmth and interest.
And here you have it! A beautifully styled kitchen ready to be enjoyed!
