Updating an Amelia Island island beach house to incorporate the owners traditional rugs in gorgeous reds and blues, timeless wood antiques and nautical trinkets proved to be a lot of fun! The homeowners worked their way down the East Coast in retirement, landing on NE Florida to call their forever home. Instead of starting fresh, we pulled their treasures out of storage and added a few Cape House touches to finish the look!
"It's always am exciting challenge when we start with existing pieces that the homeowner want to incorporate into the design. In fact, I prefer it that way!" McKenzie
- I opted for a few new pieces of art that felt far from new! Vintage inspired art in the right frame can work wonders in a classic coastal design. Once I found these pieces, they seemed to help connect all of the dots! Stacking smaller art with a similar theme (a boat over a nautical flag key in this case!) helps the home feel more collected and less staged.
- Comfy counter / bar stools are a MUST in my book! Especially if you're one for entertaining. I selected a dark wood finish and paired it with a true East Coast classic for the fabric, a blue and white ticking stripe!
- A deep blue contrast welt on the arm chairs is a fun way to update a timeless silhouette!
- The stunning lamp (Ralph Lauren's Montauk Search Light Floor Lamp!) is my favorite piece in the space. It's a bit of a splurge but truly a piece of art! It felt so right for this oceanfront space and serves as the perfect conversation piece!
]]>We started Cape House with a shared desire for creating spaces built for entertaining! It's in the casual dinners, daily routines and celebrations around the kitchen island that we find the most joy.
Today we're diving in and sharing a few of our best tips for designing a home that's ideal for entertaining! Whether it's an existing home or your new construction dream home, with a few simple changes you can make your space the perfect spot for hosting and toasting!
Ditch the concept of design perfection and embrace the balancing act. Your home doesn't have to be perfect to entertain, in fact, your guests would rather it not be. Overly formal spaces can often feel stuffy so opt to mix in casual touches that make guests feel comfortable enough to stay awhile!
While open floorplans are certainly well suited for hosting large gatherings, if you live in an older home you probably have more division between the rooms in your home. You can still open up your kitchen to make it a space for more than meal prep. Adding comfortable bar or counter stools around your kitchen peninsula or island can instantly turn your kitchen into everyone's favorite room in the house! No space for stools? In-kitchen dining is a great alternative. A neglected breakfast nook can transform into a lovely gathering space with the right table and chairs!
When we hear clients and friends share that their space is just too small for entertaining, we often explore the potential of a backyard revamp! With proper outdoor furniture, a few fancy twinkle lights (full disclosure: they're not all that fancy - just a lot of fun!) and a little imagination, you can create outdoor living spaces ideal for hosting.
It's easy to select beautiful chairs and sofas but it's equally as important to select comfortable chairs and sofas for your space! As a guest there are few things worse than sitting around a dining table in a chair you can't stand! Thankfully, we're all about form AND function at Cape House so we take both comfort and design into consideration. If you take just one thought away from today's post: comfortable living and dining room seating makes your guests feel right at home!
If you're hosting a large gathering, consider open spaces around the rooms you're entertaining in. Less furniture means more room to stand and gather. Things like benches, small stools, ottomans and smaller end tables are easy to tuck away while guests are over! Consider spaces in your home that might be best left empty and if necessary, fill them with items that can easily be hidden.
While the rest of the country experiences a change in leaves and spends their Saturday's apple picking, we're still enjoying warm temps and beach days! Nothing like a Florida fall!
We're decorating for fall with warm wood tones, pops of brass and plenty of cozy textures! And of course, you'll see a bit of blue too! The right shade of blue (not too cool!) provides the perfect dose of color in the mix of golds and creams!
Wood & Brass Pumpkins: There's no shortage of pumpkins on the floor at Cape House but our favorites are the wood and brass options! A great opportunity to add a little texture into your decor and still keep a cohesive and timeless look!
Fall Blues: While we're not opposed to orange, blue is certainly our preference when it comes to decorating with color! Much of the fall decor you'll find on the floor blends perfectly with warm blue tones - perfect for a coastal space!
Candle Arrangements: We're seeing candle arrangements all over! Instead of decorating with candles individually, consider grouping together an arrangement of candles in varied sizes and heights! To avoid a cluttered look - select candles from the same collection or of similar shades!

When it comes to Shagreen - the pictures never do it justice! A beautiful texture that feels oh so elegant!
Bring a little Shagreen in with one of these lovely pieces!
One - Cecil Drinking Table
Two - Jewel Chest
Three - Dorry Console Table
Rattan has made one heck of a comeback over the past few years! If you weren't lucky enough to hang onto your rattan pieces from the 80's - we've got you covered! Adding just a bit of rattan to a space can do wonders to "warm it up" which is especially helpful in coastal inspired spaces where it's easy to run toward cooler grays and bright whites!
One - St. Lucia Console
Two - Waleia Accent Table
Three - Tulum Accent Table
Our design team can't get enough grasscloth! A timeless way to add texture without being too trendy. Our grasscloth covered pieces are available in several beautiful colors including navy blue, the prettiest natural and a clean coastal white!
One - Bethany Square Coffee Table in Natural
Two - Bardot Table in Navy Blue
Three - Claudette Desk in Gray
Designing an open-concept space can be a bit tricky. The kitchen, dining, entrway and living spaces are all connected so the design of each room must lend itself to the next. McKenzie incorporated complimentary wood finishes and warm textures in each space for a seamless transition between each section. Today we're sharing the living room setup, that casually flows into the dining and kitchen areas.
McKenzie's favorite detail? The grasscloth coffee table big enough for board games!
1. Coordinate with color! Pull it all together with a color scheme that flows from room to room. Treat the space as one large room with multiple sections! While each section doesn't need to match the next, consider a common color that can pull each space together.
2. Consider the flow! When designing an open concept space, visualize every which way the spaces might be used and plan accordingly. Will you be entertaining often? Consider swivel chairs instead of stationery arm chairs in the living room so that your guests can turn to be a part of what's happening in the kitchen.
3. Rugs rule! Rugs help diving individual spaces within large rooms. Use large area rugs to your advantage by strategically placing them in multiple areas throughout an open-concept room.
]]>A few simple changes can turn your simple entryway into a lovely extension of your home! Of course swapping out a rug and sprucing up your lighting will make a big impact, but have you considered the following?
Great art provides a conversation piece from the get-go! Consider a piece that tells a story or invites you to share how you're connected to it. We love seascapes and landscapes for this very reason. You might also consider an architectural drawing, framed photographs or a piece you fell in love with while traveling!
Mirrors work wonders in small spaces like entryways. Consider adding an oversized mirror over a table or creating a gallery of smaller scale mirrors! Warm the space up with warmer wood tones or bring in a fun coastal texture like bamboo or rattan. You'll love how the light bounces off the mirrors and makes your space feel open and airy!
I'm having a moment with pretty entryway seating. Make the most of your space by creating additional seating in your entryway. A small bench or chair will add style as well as convenience to your space. Form and function at it's finest! This is another great way to bring in a bit of texture or upholstery! When used day-to-day it's wonderful to have a place to sit while you put your shoes, when you're entertaining a bench or seat is the perfect spot for guests to park their bags!
]]>Summer is "officially" over but lucky for us Amelia Islanders, we still have a few weeks of beautiful beach days in-store! When asked what my ideal day consists of, it's most certainly "a beautiful beach day that ends with friends laughing around the table!"
If you don't still have summer inspired cocktails on your mind, you're not truly living the island life!
Our favorite sip of summer is the Cranberry Martini! Cranberry, Lemon Orange, Citrus Infused NON-GMO vegan cane sugar!
Don't bust out the pumpkins just yet, bust out the CAMP and enjoy one last taste of summer before it's too late!
]]>Whether you're going to a dinner party, popping by for cocktails, or staying with someone for the weekend, we think it's good practice show your gratitude by bringing a little something to your hosts. Yes, it is still the thing to do when you go to a party or even a casual get-together!
- A set of stationery
- Fun cocktail napkins with a jar of Camp
- 32034 stadium cups
A gift for a host or hostess who is kind enough to accommodate you overnight warrants a step up from a dinner party gift. Considering all of the preparations that have to be made, including extra laundry, cleaning, and additional meals. You may include items you will use while staying there, but add something extra that the host or hostess can enjoy later!
- A bar set
- A cozy throw
- Blessing Beads
Whether you're en route to the party or preparing for the weekend ahead, we've surely got the perfect host or hostess gifts ready for you!

]]>Often times the master bedroom is the most neglected room in the house. Probably because most visitors never see the space, so we put it last on the to-do list. For a new out-of-town client, we were excited to help her (virtually!) turn her master bedroom into her favorite room in the house!
Thankfully the client made this project easy with beautiful existing pieces - a colorful campaign dresser, beautiful neutral wall color and luxurious all-white bedding!
My first task was to dress up the bed by bringing in a pop of pattern and a little blue. Three of our pretty blue Cairo pillows and a soft-as-butter throw blanket for the foot of the bed did just that!
The campaign-style nightstands and dresser are another gorgeous shade of blue so I chose to incorporate our oversized Mellow Marsh art on the biggest blank wall in the room. The colors are perfect but it's the subject that the client really appreciates. What's more serene than a still marsh view?!
To tie it all together we're replacing the existing rug with another Cape House favorite, our Rigging Rug! The denim and oatmeal colorway is even more beautiful in person.
Does your master bedroom need a little spruce up? Give us a call today to set up your virtual consultation!

Today we're thrilled to share a preview of a very special project we've been working on (alongside the Lola Interiors team!) for unofficial Cape House family members, the Korman family. The Korman family is moving to the beach and we couldn't be happier for them!
It all starts outside. The exterior of the home perfectly blends homeowner Nicki's classic taste with modern coastal touches perfectly suited for Amelia Island living. An oversized front porch, calming paint colors and bold light fixtures make for a warm Southern welcome! What's not to love?!
Inside the home the focus is on the families favorite gathering place - the kitchen! With two young boys and a big heart for entertaining, this space will get plenty of use! In true Cape House fashion we've mixed blue hues, warm wood tones and a pop of gold to ensure the space is timeless, bright, and airy!
A detail we love: The kitchen cabinetry isn't all white (all though we adore that look too!) - the island boasts the most beautiful shade of blue! It's the perfect pop of color and can easily be updated down the road.
Pro tip: When selecting counter or bar stools for busy families with young children, we appreciate options without upholstery for easy cleanup after meals and snacks.
Right off of the kitchen you'll find the main living area. We've mixed navy blue fabric on our favorite recliners with light white-washed wood tones, creamy leather and an oversized woven coffee table for a collected yet pulled-together look. We definitely played favorites in this living space by including our all-time favorite console table, the Bungalow 5 navy grasscloth end table we can't get enough of and our favorite CR Laine upholstered pieces.
A detail we love: The colorful rug! It's definitely the focal point of the space and the perfect way to disguise kiddo messes.
Pro tip: We're big fans of mixing fabric and leather in large spaces! It keeps the room interesting without going overboard on pattern.

While I love the classic blue and white beach house (no surprise there!), it's always fun to help clients do something a bit unique with their oceanfront abodes!
I love the appreciate the challenge of thinking outside of the box when it comes to designing beach houses. While you can't go wrong with a traditional coastal design, bringing in more modern elements and moody color combos makes for a stunning end product!
I'm currently working on details for a Carlton Dunes renovation that perfectly captures the elegant, transitional style of the homeowners. While we still have several decisions to make, I thought it would be fun to share some of the options we're currently mulling over. Which would you select?
The living room in this home definitely steals the show with massive windows overlooking our gorgeous island beaches. This couple wants to update their very traditional library builtins to incorporate a few natural elements and provide a much more modern look overall. The new design started with a layout and the idea to paint the cabinetry instead of completely gutting the unit. We'll finish the new statement piece off with out of the ordinary library lighting. The Liam is always a stunner but we're also considering the longer Barret and Cosmopolitan options.
A beautiful glass table currently takes up residence in the formal dining room. Glass tables play well at the beach - I love the way light bounces from the surface! New (more comfortable) dining chairs have been requested to really spruce this entertaining space up. I can't get enough of the texture in the Amario and Augusta chairs! And while we don't typically associate leather dining chairs with oceanside living, I love the juxtaposition of throwing in a lighter leather into the mix on the Conrad chair. Ps. If you're not crazy about the fabric but love these chairs, I have good news! They're available in tons of fabrics and finishes so we can create exactly what you're looking for.
It's all in the details, isn't it?! I can't wait to see how these simple updates transform the unit into a space the homeowners never want to leave!
The heart behind our business is relationships and where they begin: in the home. Our hope is to help you create a comfortable space that can serve as the backdrop for time spent with family and friends - living, loving, and learning.
Without our amazing customers, we wouldn't be where we are, or who we are, today. Thank you for making this dream come true and continuing to support us daily! We are truly grateful and look forward to many more years!
Next week we'll share reflections from our founders, on what the last three years have looked like. But for now, let's jump back to where it all started!
The date: March 2016. The destination: Cape Town South Africa. Here the concept was inspired: an anniversary trip shared by four best friends. Upon arrival, the Jones and the Hintons immediately fell in love with everything about the town, the scenery, the architecture, the color schemes, the crisp, coastal-chic style around every corner ‚ really everything! Blown away by its beauty, they felt completely at ease ‚ able to completely disconnect from their every day, embrace rest, and focus on the future, namely, this store concept. Conversations over glasses of Pinotage led to the discovery of the root behind the whole concept ‚ their passion for meaningful and spiritual relationships and where they begin: in the home. By combining Lance's love for the gourmet and Tiffany's love for interiors, their dream took shape as Cape House!
As we celebrate another anniversary, we look back on all that the last few years have brought. Since the return from Cape Town, countless hours have been spent bringing this vision to life and creating on Amelia Island, what we now know as Cape House. Thank you for being a part of this dream!
]]>Let's take a deep dive into our favorite room accessory - the rug! Last week we shared a complete guide to finding the perfect rug for every room in your home and this week we're sharing a few staff favorites!
We've spent years curating a collection of rugs perfectly suited to our island lifestyle and polished coastal aesthetic. That means we've sorted through THOUSANDS of options at market and beyond, only to bring home the best of the best! So what do we look for in a beautiful rug? We hunt for rugs that are of course beautiful but also durable, well priced and unique!
Today we thought we'd share a few staff picks turned customer-favorites.
"Sarah adores the Highland Rug for a number of reasons. The highland rug offers the natural fiber look us island dwellers love but with a unique detail, the touch of color! Your beach house is begging for this coastal casual rug!"
"When you can't find exactly what you're looking for due to size or shape, our Design Materials collection is usually the answer! Completely customizable and absolutely beautiful! With hundreds of combinations from rug material to binding options, you can design a beautiful (high quality!) rug for every room in your home!"
"Looking for livable luxury at an attainable price point? The Kerscher Rug is exactly that! A stunning pattern available in several bold colorways, the Kerscher comes in at an excellent price point, but you'd never suspect it!"
]]>"Your beach house is begging for this one! A timeless coastal pattern available in all of our favorite colors. The Navina Rug comes in a thin or thick block stripe pattern and the best part....it's indoor/outdoor making it both durable enough for high traffic areas and super easy to clean!"
A great rug can make (or break!) a room. The perfect rug adds more to a space than just color, pattern, or texture. Visually, it helps to ground furniture and define a space; functionally, it absorbs noise, provides plush comfortable padding underfoot and protects floors. To ensure you get the most out of your rug purchase, consider both the style and the purpose of your space. Let our rug buying guide serve as your starting point to making the best possible selection.
First thing's first. You want to ensure you've selected the right size rug for your space. A rug that's too small or too large for a space can throw an entire room off balance. Our designer, McKenzie put together an in-depth guide to help you determine the correct rug size.
Know what size you need? Let's move on to choosing the right style for each room in your home.
Rug materials offer different levels of softness, stain resistance, durability, and price. There's a material for every lifestyle and budget!
Cotton rugs are versatile, low-maintenance, and easy to clean. Cotton is far less likely to shed than wool, but tends to be less durable than wool, too. Since they’re usually machine-washable (yes, please!) you'll often see cotton rugs making an appearance in the kitchen or laundry room!
WoolWool is the most common fiber used in rug construction and we're big fans! It’s soft underfoot, durable, affordable, and naturally stain-resistant. Wool rugs also have good insulation and heat retention properties. In tufted constructions, wool rugs are prone to shedding, and may require regular vacuuming. Not crazy about the weekly vacuum sessions? A looped-fiber rug helps hide the tops of the fibers, resulting in less wear and tear and far less shedding.
SilkSilk rugs are a luxurious choice, offering natural sheen and softness that makes them perfect for the bedroom. Silk rugs are more delicate than wool and cotton versions, sensitive to moisture, and generally more expensive than other materials. More affordable alternatives to genuine silk include bamboo, banana silk, and viscose, all of which offer a similar appeal for a fraction of the price.
Natural FibersNatural-fiber rugs are created from materials like jute, sisal, bamboo and sea grass. They’re most often used for flatweave or braided rugs. Natural fibers are eco-friendly and among the most affordable for rug construction. Jute and sisal can possess a scratchy texture that can feel rough underfoot, while sea grass and bamboo are smoother. Natural fiber rugs work best in dry rooms where there is low likelihood they will be stained, as they can be difficult to clean.
SyntheticsPolypropylene and other synthetic fibers are often used to make indoor/outdoor rugs. The benefits of synthetic fibers are many, including superior stain blocking, low maintenance care, and resistance to fading, making them the perfect choice for functional areas like entryways, mudrooms, or patios. In addition to polypropylene, polyester is one of the most common synthetic materials for these durable rugs.
The weave of your rug will determine everything from how it will hold up to wear over time and how it feels underfoot. Below is a roundup of the most common rug weaving techniques, and a few things you should not about each.
Hand-knottedThis is a time-consuming and time-tested manufacturing technique in which rug fibers are tied by hand on a loom. The meticulous process results in beautiful heirloom-quality and built-to-last construction, but you should expect a higher price point to match. These rugs hold up very well over time and can be passed down for years to come. Hand-knotted rugs make a great choice for almost any area of the home.
TuftedTufted rugs are created by cutting off the tops of loops of yarn to create a plush, flat, surface; the tufted pile is then attached to a latex backing. These rugs are a less expensive alternative to a hand-knotted rug and come in a wide variety of styles. Before you make your selection, please note that tufted rugs are prone to shedding (especially at first!) and require regular vacuuming.
HookedHooked rugs are made the same manner as tufted ones, but the yarn loops are left intact instead of being sheared off. This creates a nubby, textured quality. Hooked rugs are less prone to shedding than tufted styles.
FlatwovenThis term refers to a style of mat-like rugs without pile. Flatweaves come in a variety of materials (synthetics, cotton, and wool are common) and are very durable, but they don't come on any sort of backing, so a rug pad is highly recommended. Since flatweave rugs are reversible (the pattern is visible on both sides, so you can *sometimes* flip them if one side appears worn over time), they work especially well in high-traffic areas like entryways, family rooms, and playrooms. We call these rugs Florida-friendly as they're perfect for a beach home and require minimal upkeep.
Machine-madeMachine-made rugs, which can include everything from cut-pile styles to flokati rugs and faux hides, are woven on power looms. Since these looms are computer-driven, machine-made rugs can offer a low price point, elaborate patterns, and consistent quality. Because most are made with synthetic fibers, they typically offer great stain resistance. To prevent crushing the pile, use machine-made rugs under dining tables, in bedrooms, or in other areas of the home with low foot traffic.

We can't stress this enough - the first rule when it comes to caring for your rug is to ready the label and carefully follow the manufacturer's cleaning and upkeep instructions.
Plan to have your rug professionally cleaned every year or two. In between those cleanings spot clean to minimize staining. Blot stains immediately (never rub!), spritz with water and repeat until the stain fades.
We recommend using vacuum attachments that won't be too powerful. Attachments are gentler, especially for delicate details like rug binding and serged edges.
Rug pads provide extra comfort and prevent slips but they're also great for preserving the life of your rug. Pads help to reduce friction between the bottom of the rug and the floor.
Still not sure which style is for you? Come see us in-store at Cape House and be sure to follow along on Instagram @shopcapehouse all month long for more tips, tricks and rug buying advice!
]]>McKenzie met (via Facetime!) with this client to determine her needs, style preferences and to virtually walk through the space! With a beautiful new construction home comes an open concept floorplan, which can be a challenge for two reasons.
1. It can be difficult to ensure each space has it's own personality while still remaining cohesive with the rest of the home.
2. Family rooms often turn into multi-purpose rooms which means when it's time to entertain clearing away the clutter can be tricky!
The homeowner wanted to transform her space into a beautiful room that represented her classic style while remaining functional for her children and entertaining extended family.
McKenzie selected a Crypton performance fabric in Jacob Porcelain for the sofa and another performance fabric in Starlight Natural from our Sustain line for the two accent chairs. When mixing light-colored fabrics and small children, performance fabrics are the way to go! Crypton performance fabrics are stain-resistant so you don't have to worry about sippy cup spills or peanut butter handprints ruining your furniture. Upholstery made for families.
Instead of a coffee table, we opted to leave space in the center of the room for play. When the children are older a coffee table will be an easy addition. We incorporated additional seating using two of our popular Masquerade poufs (dressed in a beautiful Chit Chat Denim fabric!) and additional accent chairs to flank the entertainment piece, bringing in texture and interest. For beautiful media storage (goodbye TV cords!) and additional toy storage, the Townsend sideboard serves as the perfect space to hide the clutter.
The color palette leans neutral so McKenzie brought in a pop of color with two Harlequin garden stools. The stools not only bring in a fun blue, but they're sturdy enough to serve as end tables the kiddos can't knock over. Well, never say never when kiddos are involved but these budget-friendly garden stools are a safer bet than large end tables and lamps.

She's the sentimental type. Surely she'll treasure forever a beautiful set of blessing beads, oyster beads, a picture frame (with a printed photo of course!), or a guardian angel to keep close.
She's always in the kitchen. For the mom who's always cooking, consider a fun apron and wooden spoon set or our personal favorite, an "alexa, feed my kids" kitchen towel.
She loves to be pampered. Every mother deserves a little extra pampering this year! Give her the gift of yuzu salts and shower tablets (they smell like heaven!) or a luxurious new robe!
She is always on the go! Or at least, she will be soon! ;) For the mom who never sits still, a Boulevard keyring (she can wear it as a bracelet!), burlap tote or Face to Face Designs pouch would surely make her smile!
She never skips her morning cup of coffee. Coffee and motherhood go together like biscuits and gravy! With witty sayings like "you make mom jeans look good" and "sometimes I open my mouth and my mother falls out" one of our new mugs will keep her laughing all morning long. Today, I'm taking y'all behind the scenes on a few projects I have in the works!
This darling client is building a beautiful home in the heart of my favorite local neighborhood, Old Town! She and her husband currently reside in Georgia and have lovely taste that leans a bit traditional. I got excited as soon as we started talking about this project, and my client's vision to integrate a bit more coastal charm into her new-build while staying true to her personal style. Ready for a challenge, we dove right in selecting gorgeous Visual Comfort pendant lights for her open kitchen, paint and hardware that complimented the coastal location of the home and the owner's elegant style, and playful fabrics for all of the upholstery! I adore the blues and greens, mix of texture and splash of whimsy! I can't wait to share more of this project as soon as it's complete!
Leather, stripes, and a darling blue rug! A formal dining room gets a coastal makeover just in time for summer entertaining. While I adore the drapery and gorgeous leather dining chairs, the stunning blue rug is certainly my favorite detail! The rug is completely customizable and made to order, which means we were able to select the ideal size for the unique space. A perfectly sized rug gives the room a more formal look. The homeowner has a bit of blue in each room of her open home, creating a cohesive calm that pulls everything together.
This out-of-state client drove all the way to Amelia for help making selections for her gorgeous new home! We're flattered she chose us to help design the space. It all started with this stunning rug! From there we pulled in upholstery fabrics, art, and pillows in beautiful shades of green. We still have a few final touches to pull together and accents to add but this is quickly becoming one of my favorite schemes!
In between the big projects there are always a few smaller-scale projects in the works. From bedding schemes (see above!) to lighting selections and coffee table restyling. There's always something to design! :)

For many of us, Easter will look a lot different this year! While we won't be packing up the family for a special church service or hunting eggs with all of our loved ones, we'll still be celebrating the resurrection, however that may look!
Luke 24:6-7: "He is not here; he has risen!"
Just because you aren't hosting a large gathering this year, doesn't mean you can't set the table! Bring in backyard flowers, bust out the bunnies and iron your table linens. Decorating the house with Spring colors and easter eggs (hand-dyed of course!) is a great way to lift spirits. Be sure to tag us on in your decor photos on Instagram and Facebook so that we can celebrate with you!
Already purchased coordinating Easter outfits for the whole family? Us too! I have a feeling everyone is looking for an excuse to switch out of loungewear and dress up a bit. Before tuning into your virtual church service, get the family dressed and take that annual Easter photo. You won't regret it!
Ps. If you're looking for a service to attend this Sunday, you can join our Mercy Hill family for a live stream at 10:45 am! Click here for the details.
Easter baskets aren't just for the kiddos! This year, send a little #happymail to grandparents, friends, and neighbors with a special Easter basket! Give us a call and we'll help you put together the perfect grown-up Easter basket!
With so many nonprofits and churches struggling right now, giving a special Easter offering is a wonderful way to spread a little generosity during this difficult season!
What better way to feel connected with loved ones than through food. Facetime your Nana and beg her for that secret deviled egg recipe! She's sure to cave if you ask her to stick around while you make it together!
Instead of dwelling on all the ways this Easter will be different, start a new tradition and use this time at home for good. Who knows, you might make some of your favorite Easter memories yet!

We're suckers for blue (in just about every shade!) but this year we're especially intrigued by the pantone color of the year, classic blue! You can read a bit about why we adore the shade in this post! In addition to blues, we're pulling away from cooler greys and whites and finding ourselves incorporating warmer more natural tones into our designs!
Great question! While we typically style the sofas in our store with 5 or more pillows, we recommend just 2-4 for a traditional length sofa. You want guests to feel that they can sit on a sofa without having to move a thing! It's much more inviting and a lot less awkward for your company. For a bed, the sky is the limit! While it's definitely a personal preference (and often a decision couples need to make together!) we often use 7 or more pillows when styling a queen or king size bed. Pro tip: an oversized basket or bench at the foot of the bed is a great place to store extra pillows at night! For more tips and tricks on pillow styling, this is a great post to reference!
When done well, we're big fans! Shopping for attractive faux floral arrangements is no easy task but we're happy to have found a few vendors that capture the natural look we love without hefty price tags. Spring is a great time to incorporate a few faux botanicals into your home decor!
Have you considered a colored table? Last year we went green in a client's formal dining room and couldn't love the look more! We paired a bold green canadel table with gorgeous boxwood green printed chairs. By incorporating classic silhouettes for the tabletop and chairs, we were able to get a bit more creative with the pattern and colors. Selecting the right lighting is also important! We're happy to help you choose the perfect fixtures for your space.
Look no further! This spa-like shade is exactly what you're going for!
Baskets, baskets and more baskets! We have so many styles to choose from in-store. We recommend just a couple of larger baskets (don't over-organize!) for easy cleanup that the kids can help with. Seagrass, wickers, and metals are a fun way to incorporate texture while still keeping your space tidy!
We almost always choose two. This post should help you make the right decision based on your island size! There are several factors to consider when choosing the right lighting for your kitchen.

]]>Where blue and green meet is a beautiful hue we've lovingly called "seafoam" and currently can't get enough of. It's close to "aqua" on a color wheel but has a very different feel to it. Seafoam pairs well with greys as it typically has a grey undertone. The green makes it an earthy fresh color while the blue adds a peaceful, serene quality that makes it so attractive. It's calm but still so cheerful. What's not to love?
For a clean coastal look that's a little less nautical, we adore a combination of neutrals and seafoam! We've noticed visitors in the store are also drawn to these restful shades whether featured in solids or patterns.
The color made it's big debut in the 50's when it was primarily used for clothing. While us islanders know that the true color of seafoam is not green or blue, the color is named after the lighter notes of the sea. Seafoam has many positive associations and feelings attached to it which makes it the right choice for many rooms.

It's not every day that we use "pretty" and "recliner" in the same sentence. That was until the Malcolm recliner made it's debut! Now we can't stop talking about the beautiful recliner on the floor! We're quick to invite visitors to give her a try, not just because the chair is beautiful but because it's incredibly comfortable as well!
Available in both a manual recliner and power recliner option, we can customize the chair to fit your family's needs and personality! Choose from any of our fabrics, finishes, and leathers to bring your vision to life.
This is not your grandpa's recliner! With a comfortable height and seat depth, it's a challenge to find such a sleek silhouette, but this chair has it all! We love when form meets function.
If you've been in the store this month you've noticed a few big changes! Spring is in the air at Cape House and we couldn't be more excited. The floor is packed full of new furniture, rugs, lighting, and accessories just in time to give your home a little Spring refresh.
You'll notice a splash of the 2020 color of the year in just about every space. We just can't quit it!
With hundreds of furniture styles and beautiful new upholstery fabrics to choose from, you can customize a look that is perfectly suited for your space. The possibilities are endless!
In addition to new furniture - our kitchen is stocked with everything you need for a Spring picnic, a thoughtful housewarming gift or a bar cart restock!
Bring on the citrus! Nothing screams Spring like a playful color palette and citrus themed centerpiece!
Spring brings with it our favorite holiday! We're busting out the bunnies, mossy greens and blessing beads just in time for Easter!
We hope you enjoyed this little preview of our newest arrivals. Stop by and see us for the full tour!
]]>It's the month of love and we're taking any opportunity we can to celebrate! This weekend we whipped up the most delicious punch perfect for Valentine's and Galentine's soirées!
A tasty concoction called "giggle juice" combines lemonade (pink of course!), vodka and your favorite Moscato for a colorful punch you'll swoon over!
Step One: Rim glasses with lemon wedge and dip in sugar.
Step Two: In a large pitcher, stir together moscato, pink lemonade, soda, vodka, and fruit. Add ice and stir to combine.
Step Three: Pour a glass and enjoy!
Be sure to pop into Cape House this week to grab everything you need for a romantic Valentine's day date or festive Galentine's celebration!
